On Thursday, October 5th, The Mackay School along with St. Margaret’s school held the third annual “So You Think You Can Sing, Design, and Act??” competition. Students from both schools were allowed to participate in any of the three competitions. For the singing competition, students sang songs from Camp Rock, High School Musical, Glee, and Across the Universe as seen below:

Houses then competed in an acting competition involving a scene from Harry Potter and the Philosopher´s Stone. Students let loose while playing the characters of Harry Potter, Severus Snape, Filch, Hermione, Professor Mcgonagall and Draco Malfoy.

The design portion of the competition involved students creating costumes inspired by popular movies like The Adams Family, Suicide Squad, Star Wars, and Grease. Students pranced onto the stage in their costumes made from 100% recycled materials. The costumes designers arrived with their models to give lights to specific details of how the outfits were created.

Show coordinator and emcee Veronica Cordero did an incredible job of organizing and motivating students to bring their best work to the table. In an incredibly tight finish, the Robinson house won the crown for best performances. Upon hearing the news, the house erupted in celebration. “So You Think You Can Sing, Design, and Act?” was a successful competition on all fronts as students and teachers alike had a wonderful time participating.

La Tercera Competencia de “So You Think You Can Sing, Design and Act??”  

El jueves, 5 de octubre, la Escuela Mackay junto con la escuela de St. Margaret celebró el tercer evento anual competencia de “So You Think You Can Sing, Design and Act??”. Se permitió a los estudiantes de ambas escuelas participar en cualquiera de las tres competiciones. Para el concurso de canto, los estudiantes cantaban canciones de Camp Rock, High School Musical, Glee y Across the Universe como se ve a continuación:

Las casas compitieron en una competición que actuaba implicando una escena de Harry Potter y de la Piedra Filosofal. Los estudiantes se soltaron mientras interpretaban a los personajes de Harry Potter, Severus Snape, Filch, Hermione, el profesor Mcgonagall y Draco Malfoy.

La parte del diseño de la competición implicó a los estudiantes que creaban los trajes inspirados por películas populares como The Adams Family, Suicide Squad, Star Wars, y Grease. Los estudiantes subieron al escenario con sus trajes hechos de materiales 100% reciclados. Los diseñadores de los trajes llegaron con sus modelos para dar luces a detalles específicos de cómo se crearon sus obras maravillosas.

La coordinadora de espectáculos y directora de ceremonias Verónica Cordero hizo un trabajo increíble de organizar y motivar a los estudiantes para llevar su mejor trabajo. En un final increíblemente apretado, la casa de Robinson ganó la corona para las mejores actuaciones. Al escuchar la noticia, la casa estalló en celebración. “¿Así que piensas que puedes cantar, diseñar y actuar?” fue una competencia exitosa en todos los frentes, tanto los estudiantes como los profesores tuvieron un maravilloso momento participando.
