First English Department ICT workshop: A Hands on Experience


Today, the English Department had the pleasure to share the experience working with digital tools in our lessons. The session took place from 9:30 until 1:45. Junior and Senior teachers plus the visit of two teachers from St Margaret’s and two teachers from Craighouse spent time together reflecting on the changes that we are living as XXI century teachers. The programme of the morning was the following:


To present the ICT-based approach applied in the English academic programme from 6th Grade up to 4th Medio in The Mackay School, with an emphasis on how it has been used in the International Baccalaureate programmes: Language and Literature and Language B. 

To teach how to create and administer a “Wordpress” website freely for the English lesson. 

To teach how to use other free online platforms that can be linked to a “Wordpress” site. 


9.30 to 10 am: Welcome Breakfast and Registration

10 to 10.45 am: Introduction: Aims and Programme. The Mackay School experience with the use of ICT in the classroom.

10.45 am to 12 pm: Hands-on Workshop 1: Setting up a “Wordpress” website and basic tools. Presentation of free online platforms that can be linked to a “Wordpress” website.
